Mitch Creek: The season that was and the season that is

For most athletes approaching 30-years-old, their prime playing days would be behind them, but not for Mitch Creek. NBL22 has not only seen Creek’s game reach new heights, but also a resurgence of his career from the brink of retirement. The South East Melbourne Phoenix star has firmly entrenched himself in the conversation for league MVP, a possible return to the NBA and has the Phoenix poised to make a legitimate run at the championship come season’s end – three things which looked far less likely 12 months ago.

From NBL Champion to the NBA: Dean Vickerman on Jock Landale's journey

In December 2020, former Melbourne United star and current San Antonio Spur, Jock Landale, made the bold prediction that his United outfit could go undefeated throughout the 2020-21 NBL season. Quarantine Questions

With the NBA season on hold for the foreseeable future and the majority of us staying at home in isolation, we decided to run a Q and A with a few of our writers to talk about some of the loose ends from this season. Minutes after the final buzzer, as both teams had begun to warm down and fans piled out of Dandenong Stadium, O’Hea sat alone.

Almost two weeks of the NBA season is in the books and we’ve had a chance to take a look at (most of) this year’s class of rookies through their first few NBA games. There’s been some big surprises, some slightly less big surprises, some rookie’s starved of opportunity and as always, plenty of inconsistency. So let’s dive in and take a look at some very early (arguably premature) rookie rankings.

The NBL is on the rise and America has noticed

The upcoming NBL season will see NBA draft prospects LaMelo Ball, RJ Hampton and Terry Armstrong all begin their professional careers as members of NBL sides, opting for a year abroad instead of going to college. There are many reasons as to why these players decided to skip college and join a professional league – some are different depending on circumstances, whereas others are more consistent across the board.
